I didn't say, or imply, that Rózsa would have said such a thing -- I know he wouldn't have said it -- I wrote that he probably would've agreed with it, which is a very different thing.  In any case, it seems unfortunate for Rózsa to imply, via the comment you quote, that Tiomkin was a "giant" compared with the likes of Elmer Bernstein and Jerry Goldsmith, who were at the forefront of film composers in the 1970s.
