Funnily enough, I have heard the likes of Previn, Goldsmith and - I think Leonard Slatkin (for example) - refer to MR as either "Miklos" or "Mikki", and I always cringe a little at such times. Also the occasional interviewer on BBC....who really should know better, although, upon reflection, now that organisation has long sold it's soul to the devil.....!  OK, sure some of these people knew him on these first name terms, but I have always felt it to be more proper to address him by his surname, with or without a title attached. And when I knew him of course it was in a reverential "Dr. Rozsa...." !!
But we are living in disrespectful times, Mike.... many things have changed and such (to us) obvious politenesses have long gone out of the window. Now such things don't worry me much; all part of the slowly degenerating ways of life, and lack of respect prevalent in the west!

But I am a little surprised if David Newman refers to his Dad as Al; however, maybe that sort of thing is commonplace in California......
