Walton and Arnold were really close friends... and Walton always had "help" on his film scores. Rarely as much as on Battle of Britain, but Walton really had problems coming up with themes later in his life wich slowed him down considerably.
The thematic material in BoB is Waltons and Malcolm was careful not to overdo his style, but as it has been pointed out easily dectable. Arnold wanted no credit apart from conducting.

I don't think there is any composer who had not some kind of "help" on a film score. Even Herrmann.

Of course there are and were a lot of composers who need "very much help" on finishing their job, but thats another story
