This fine new release serves to highlight the meat from a truly neglected 'forties "noir"- and, having seen HALF MOON ST again recently, they can't get much darker than this mysterious little horror! In fact I watched other neglected Rozsa scored films from the mid to late 'forties of late:  DESERT FURY, CRISS CROSS, KISS THE BLOOD OFF MY HANDS (what a title!), and SECRET BEYOND THE DOOR; plus another so full of romantic music - THE OTHER LOVE - it has made this heartening re-acquaintance a quite fascinating experience. By the way, one doesn't need to possess DVDs of these - Youtube can be an on-going source of supply for many movies of this period.

We do so need to hear his scores from this most productive part of his film career, and of course that was why the recent RED HOUSE  was such a big feather in the caps of Messrs Wilson, Kaska, Talkington and Fake, the team involved in this great new re-recording.......and why these CDs sound fresh as paint and equally full of new-to-many treasures!  I do hope the above, as well as BRUTE FORCE and other hard hitting gangster thrillers will be considered by Intrada and Allan Wilson; they are doing us such great favours with such a treasure trove of rarities.
