Received my copy today and had a quick first listen. It's certainly good to have another Rozsa collection, which we haven't had for many years, and this is a worthy successor to the Polydor recordings where the unfamiliar held sway. Indeed, the unfamiliarity of THE MAN IN HALF MOON STREET makes that the highlight of the disc and it's certainly one of Rozsa's more atmospheric, mysterioso scores. The Prelude from JACARE provides a tantalising glimpse of what is a small excerpt from a very lengthy score for another seldom seen film. Conductor Allan Wilson brings out the full-blown romanticism of THE STRANGE LOVE OF MARTHA IVERS, fortunately in a more lengthy suite than that recorded by Elmer Bernstein many years ago. As with Intrada's THE RED HOUSE. the recording has a concert hall ambience - not surprising of course since the recordings shared the same venue. Congratulations and thanks to all concerned in making this happen!
