Doug is spot on of course, and this new disc is quite wonderful in its presenting before us very rare MR scores, well performed, conducted and recorded. The same can be said of its predecessor, THE RED HOUSE from the same Glasgow sessions, which was a longer classic score, equally unfamiliar complete, and also revealing many previously unknown themes and cues. Two superb releases by Intrada Records.
All involved in this production - notably Kevin Kaska, Allan Wilson, Paul Talkington, Mike Lang, Phil Rowlands, and of course Doug Fake (plus the fine RSNO) deserve our huge thanks for now preserving more 'forties scores so competently (plus one from the 'fifties!) and sounding so absolutely splendid.
I am now writing a short report on those sessions from Jan 2011 which will be available at some point on our site. I sincerely hope all enjoy this new CD as much as I did witnessing its contents being created.
