August 30 2014 Norderstedt (Germany) Hollywood Sounds. NDR Radio Philharmonic conducted by Andrew Manze - TriBühne. Those who go home with the famous golden statue enjoy world fame. Miklós Rózsa and Erich Wolfgang Korngold have won the prestigious award several times. Both immigrated to California from Europe at the end of the 1930s and quickly found careers in Hollywood as composers of film music.

  • Rózsa received his first Oscar for the film music to Hitchcock’s “Spellbound“


  • Korngold won for the music to “Anthony Adverse“ and “The Adventures of Robin Hood.“ Korngold’s violin concerto from 1945 has a sound reminiscent of the film music he composed, with its swells and opulent orchestration;


  • The songs of Kurt Weill “American,“ “Speak Low,“ “Surabaya Johnny“ and “September Song“ are simply classics.
