Plenty to enthuse about at today's Piano Duet lunchtime concert recital at London's Regent Hall; given by the ever-enterprising Ivory Duo Piano Ensemble (Natalie Tsaldarakis and hubby Panayotis Archontides), it was fine to again encounter them once again on top form.

After the magical Petite Suite by Debussy and some of Brahms's Hungarian Dances, they played the Procession from Rozsa's (also magical) Thief of Bagdad Suite, followed by some Williams excerpts and a favourite by them, North's Spartacus music (the Love theme and amazingly rhythmic Preparations for Battle). It all went so effectively well, and it was a joy to meet with them again to offer well earned congratulations.

There are few such teams who always include their arrangements of notable film scores, and Rozsa is a favourite for them. Their encore was a "Greek Bartok"-sounding dance by their own Nikis Skalkottas, another sadly neglected master; it turned out to be a fun filled work which made the current Greek troubles seem a million miles away!

Bravo to a unique couple once more.
