I found a good condition copy of BAD BOY OF MUSIC by George Antheil

Do you think Rozsa should have called his bio "Good Boy Of Music"?

On the subject of Antheil, I just bought his symphonies 4 & 6 on Naxos. Interesting music, especially as he was apparently attempting to find a uniquely "American" style of music (presumably different from Copland and Moross), but hardly profound--rather playful in fact. Strictly as music I prefer his "Pride & Passion" score, but this is great if you want to give your stereo a workout and annoy the neighbours. The notes are interesting too, especially his quoted remark that "by 1941 I could at last call myself a complete failure." Interesting how composers go in and out of fashion. I wonder why his film scores aren't more requested. Wikipedia gives them as:

The Buccaneer (1938 )
The Spectre of the Rose (1946)
In A Lonely Place (1951)
The Juggler (1953)
Dementia / Daughter of Horror (1953)
Not as a Stranger (1955)
The Werewolf (1956) (uncredited)
The Pride and the Passion (1957)
20 Million Miles to Earth (1957) (uncredited)
The Young Don't Cry (1957)

Not exactly a huge, A-grade list, but surely at least P & P deserves a re-recording. If Philip Sainton can get his one score recorded, what's the problem with Antheil?
