Some of the Warner Brothers piano folios like King's Row are very difficult, almost to the point of being impossible to play

Yes I suppose so, but at least it's flowing and would sound good coming out of a piano. But think of tracks like the fanfares for Crassus' legions. It just isn't thought of as piano stuff. The horn whoops for example would just be glissandos in seconds, very awkward. Miklos Rozsa put his 'Pilate's Arrival' into the 'King of Kings' folio (which I re-found scanned to the wrong folder on my hard-drive) and it works fine because it's very melodic. It'd be good if a talented pianist could post up some of those folios to the site? It wouldn't have to be hi-tech: we can cope with the odd traffic-horn or kettle boiling in the background ...

Incidentally I recently downloaded the mpeg here of 'Haroun al Rozsad', and put it into software so that I could compare with a slowed down, pitch-retained 'Tuareg Sword Dance' from VoftheKs, and it's not altered one jot in terms of orchestration or melody, just in the trio bits between the theme statement. The bassline is more simple in the latter. The 'Haroun' thing gets a bit whimsical and almost pretends to lose its way in the middle before it returns and I'm pretty sure this is to build up to the 'burping' silence in the dialogue, where the theme MUST return so as to keep interest. I can see why it might interfere though. The scene is more leisurely without it. It would naturally have ended when Ilderim stands up, a signal to the musicians no doubt that he's off to bed.
