If the Japanese Mayazumi was qualified to write music for THE BIBLE, Rózsa was also just as appropriate a choice for the 1980 mini-series Shôgun (which was scored, in a curious choice, by the Maurice Jarre. In light of stories that Rózsa was offered, and turned down, the TV movie The Wall during the same period, one wonders who was on Shôgun producer Eric Bercovici's short list. Might they have thought of Rózsa before veering off in the direction they ultimately took?)
