Thanks Shu, that's interesting. Huston obviously decided that he didn't want a traditonal religiose score but I can't see that what he ended up with was particularly effective. To refresh my memory of the score I've been watching the DVD again (a somewhat masochistic exercise). Indeed, the film is running on one of the UK Sky Movies TV channels as I type! Huston takes an overly simplistic approach to the Bible stories (the Garden of Eden sequence is totally risible) yet it seems to me that Mayuzumi's modernistic score works mainly against such images. There is no sense of awe or of spirituality which Rozsa would certainly have provided.
