Well, for something of such saga-like length, it's inevitable that his thematic material would have had to be recycled (without the kind of dramatic development we expect from R贸zsa) more than he might've liked.

It's a totally different fish.

There's a wonderful element of humour and witty one-liners in the whole thing. It's very well written, both series, and needs a cheeky musical style. The music it uses (a sort of tango?) works immensely as 'Latin' and 'ethnic' but this is not the 'same old thing' history series. 'QV', apart from the source material wouldn't work, even in editing terms. He'd've needed to come up with something different. The material would've dictated it.
