Complete cycle heard. Awesome Rozsa epic work.

The Intermission is a very nice, so to is the Overture.

This is my first listen to this work so I'm not decided about what I find most rewarding, however the bonus male vocal tracks quickly become tiring. That said the score as a whole is wonderful, certainly not to be dismissed as second rate Rozsa. I need to hear it at least a few more times to really appreciate what it is, the score has an Arabian fantasy atmosphere about it, specially tracks like number 5 - The Gates of Sodom.

Sure enough the brass gets a little overwhelming on the 2nd disc at some points, but the mastering is good enough to be a model for future releases that are in less than good condition. I'm so glad they didn't chop the high end of with some hiss filter, and the dynamic range must surely be very close to the source elements. As said previously I discovered inconsistancy too, nothing to do with the great job Digitmovies did however.

I received this Film Score Monthly collector card with my order :p
