I assume you mean distortion due to overmodulation of the recorded signal. In other words, recording at too high a level. This has been widely remarked in King of Kings tracks, notably the Overture. I don't hear any significant distortion in B-H. If anything, there are moments (the anno domini fanfare and the first act finale) where the levels seem to have been dialed down for safety.

In the USA, "clipping" commonly refers to playback distortion when an amplifier is driven beyond its limits. It was clipping on the spectacular Padberg Young Bess recording that told me I needed a bigger amp when I moved to a larger listening room.

Then again, in Chaucer, "clyppinge" means something altogether different -- what we might call "necking" or "making out." Maybe also in Scotland?
