Another wonderful work from the overly-talented Powell/Pressburger team is "Black Narcissus" which contains remarkably haunting Technicolor images captured by Jack Cardiff which rightly won the Oscar for Best Color Cinematography. The score by Brian Easdale is also superb. I wish it was available and complete on CD.
But I must confess that had I been David Farrar's character and suddenly found myself with a horny gorgeous nun on my hands sans her habit, all made up and in heat I wouldn't have turned her away. But Farrar's Dean is a very complex man who I suspect isn't that interested in women, especially horny nuns in heat. Perhaps William can better explain his persona.
When I first saw the film I fell madly in love with Kathleen Byron and found myself looking for women with a similar look back during my dating years. Unfortunately I seemed to end up with somewhat neurotic women.....that is until I met the woman who became my wife. And no, she doesn't resemble Byron. More like Jennifer Jones.
Finally, special mention must go to May Hallatt's humorous portrayal of an old hag. I still crack up each time she mocks the nuns calling for "Sister Ruth!"
