Regarding QUO VADIS:

The intermission originally took place right in the middle of Taylor's chariot ride to burning Rome, after he vanquishes the two Praetorians in chariots following him. I always thought this made for a bumpy separation, since the audience was then supposed to get up, stretch their legs, go out to the lobby for a smoke, then return for the second half of the film, which takes up with the remainder of Taylor's ride, with the red skies behind him, and goes immediately into the burning of Rome! Rather abrupt, wouldn't you say?

However, on the original 10-inch recording, that is how the music cue of "Chariot Chase" ends, with a flourish, indicating the title for Intermission.

It is my hope that, some day, in a best case scenario, that the actual tracks will turn up, or, failing that, that a new recording will be made, which will include all the music written for the film, including that ballet Rozsa wrote for the bacchanal, which ended up getting deleted before it was ever shot.

I can dream, can't I?
