Well people, I ended up attending the Disney Concert Hall tonight and can report back that they added Rozsa's splendid "Double Indemnity" final to an interesting mix of movie music that was written for various films with stories taking place in Los Angeles. I must say that out of everything played, Rosza's work was the most fulfilling. David Newman handled the conducting chores beautifully. His opening suite of Waxman's score for "Sunset Blvd." was played better than I've ever heard it played anywhere. He absolutely put to shame Charles Gerhardt's otherwise fine RCA LP/CD version. They're repeating it tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM for anyone who lives in LA and wants to attend.

Having Rozsa's music show up like that after first checking the LA Philharmonic website and not seeing him listed makes me wonder if they read this forum!

The sound in the hall still sucks. And for some reason they refused to turn up the damned air conditioning which made a lot of people awfully uncomfortable. I saw more than one person fanning themselves with their program. Newman looked drenched by the conclusion of the concert. $125 per ticket and you get to sit in a modern art sauna.
