Aha! But you're jumping to conclusions. I don't bid on ebay. It's not an auction. All the action takes place in the last few seconds.
Anticipating your next question ( how did I do that?) let me say Ebay does not necessarily allow the potentially highest bidder to take the prize but turns it into a sort of game to see who can get the last bid away the final seconds. A time gap needs to be allowed between the last bid and the closing of the auction after the deadline is reached.

As I was thinking of adding a couple more interviews to those Hank kindly put up on this site earlier, I wonder if anyone is interested in hearing MR on the
popular BBC radio show, "Desert Island Discs", which aired back in Nov '84? It is both historically informative as well as a fascinating listen,
and, if anyone has yet to hear it, I would be happy to share the experience with you.

QUESTION AND CURIOSITY I remember in the old homepage of the MRS website that the Society is born in 1970 thanks to John Fitzpatrick with of course and also the help of Miklos Rozsa. I find this very interesting and important, the question is : there are documents, or informations and so on about the burning of the MRS society ? Could be interesting I think understand some notices about what Rozsa (and John Fitzpatrick) make and wanted with this Society, if it's possible. I suppose also, for many reasons that the Society in the time has expaded ( for example with the forum) with the aim of improving forever

The Society and its leaders have received a number of criticisms over the years, but nobody ever threatened us with quite so severe a fate. Some of the early issues of PMS recount our early adventures. The original idea was to form something of a club, with a lot of personal interaction. Someday, I'll pull together a more comprehensive history. |

thanks John. If I tell this is for curiosity and also for give an idea for discuss. Moreover I konw Rozsa since four years and hence I dont have the possibility for know the history and the way of the MRS Society and website, but I'm happy because if I begin today sure I could not find all the Rozsa's CDs that I have. About the criticals in the time to the Society and its leaders, we know also that Rozsa deserved more Oscar and we know the criticals by Miss Hedda Hopper for THE LOST WEEKEND's score, and for all these criticals we know what is the truth, and the MRS and its leaders have only deserve for what they do and represent.

Musica Sana archive to read about the early years of the society. There are a number of the early issues already available and more will be placed online in
due course.

Thanks to Alan Hamer for supplying some more interviews for the site pages. The 'desert island discs ' interview which is most interesting and the
memories of composing Quo Vadis, comprehensive enough but which may have more at the ending if anyone has it on file. Another interview from 1984 goes into
Rozsas 'double life' as composer. The number of interviews we have on file demands a suitable page which can now be found via the homepage in the left
menu under Miklos Rozsa.
I am looking around for a means of digitalizing a 16 inch transcription disc of a Rozsa interview probably from the late 1940s. A special turntable is required. Also if anyone is in possession of a recorded interview why not share it with us. www.miklosrozsa.org

QUESTION in the unknow interview there are backgroud noise I can mistake but seems that Rozsa is traveling inside a train ?

No, not on a train to my knowledge, Goldenage; I believe he was on terra firma when he was talking. However, with the rather noisy background you can certainly be forgiven for thinking it took place on the Super Chief (does this still exist these days?) or some local LA branch line surburban puffer.....! I hope all are enjoying hearing these; I certainly did once more when I dug them out recently. |

Well yes, we have included the written transcript of a tape which was previously placed under features.
Coming up shortly though is, not an interview as such but a radio programme presented by Miklos Rozsa himself for the Korean war veterans. |

It was a very different world back then, both as to the availability of film scores as commercial recordings, and the type of music people listened to.
It's be quite iluuminating to know how interested young men (at war or not) were in film music, whether they even gave the art and craft of film-scoring any thought at all, and, by extension, the concert oeuvres of composers like R贸zsa. I wonder if there were any reviews or corresponding articles about R贸zsa's radio interview in the Armed Forces publications read by U.S. service personnel. |
