Works to be recorded will be the Overture to a Symphony Concert; 3 Hungarian Sketches; Tripartita and the Hungarian Serenade; this last will be a particularly welcome inclusion as it was missed by Koch back in their important series nearly twenty years ago, and has not received a modern recording on disc so far. To have the fine and sturdy BBC Phil. tackle this - and indeed all the works - is great news indeed.
The Symphony was apparently to have been recorded, instead of the Sketches and Serenade, but it seems that all the parts used by Sedares in New Zealand have mysteriously been lost, and hence were not available for the sessions. Anyone wishing to now re-record, or even play it in concert (and I have heard there is some interest in doing just this)--must first consider the arduous task of some extensive reconstruction.
A likely date of issue could be later next year, and we can only hope that the disc is well reviewed and received generally; maybe it could lead to another series!
