It's good to be back. I am just now reinstated to "my own" Forum, having been locked out for a week by a glitch in the Yuku upgrade process.
Have others had similar problems? I am aware of at least one instance. In my case, we discovered that the old 4-digit password no longer suffices for the new
board.
If you have problems, you need to go to the Yuku Help facility. You will need to register separately with them. Once you have a password for the Help service,
you can correspond usefully with the people who run this free service.
To be clear: This Forum was created by our Australian friend Matthew Gear using the free EZ-Board service, which is now absorbed into another free service
called Yuku. The overall layout of the board (now much improved) is entirely in the hands of Yuku. Pop-up and banner advertisements come from Yuku and have no
direct connection with the Miklos Rozsa Society. Most of us can suppress these ads (at least the most annoying pop-ups) by using the tools supplied with our
own browsers. The Society can also pay for totally ad-free service. We have done so at certain periods and may do so again in the future. Right now, we are
uncertain as to the need for that upgraded service. It is clear that many users are fine with the status quo.

Foremost among the new features that I have discovered is the "Find" (Search) button. EZ-Board's search feature was useless. The new one really
works! Use it to unearth buried treasures and to continue long-standing discussions without needing to "reinvent the wheel."
There's also supposed to be a polling feature, for which I have thus far found a description but not a "how to." I look forward to taking some surveys that may elicit opinions from more people than the half-dozen "usual suspects" who are responsible for most of the postings here. |

I hope you don't mind I add to this post after your request for us to address your members at the board. This way I can address several questions at once,
and give links where necessary.
First of all, welcome to Yuku. We know the change can be stressful, and we aim to help as well as we can. If you have login problems or account problems, please open a helpdesk account at http://helpdesk.yuku.com and submit a ticket. We can discuss your login details privately there and get other staff members in other departments to assist where necessary. For support in any way, please go to http://support.yuku.com/ There you will find tutorials, frequently asked questions, Yuku announcements and so forth. John, you can activate polls by clicking on 'admin' in the top, then on 'forum and chat management' in the forum and chat box, and then on 'settings' behind the forum name on that page. Check the 'enable polls' box. To specify how your polls should look, click on 'display preferences' in your community settings box, and scroll down to the bottom. A Lee Hern, Yuku doesn't kick posts off the end when the 20 pages have been reached. Yuku's forums are endless and need to be pruned or archived manually. If you are experiencing trouble logging in: try adding .e or .miklosrozsa behind your name. The chances are very high (having seen the member list) that you have a local account or a .e account which is an anomaly that will be corrected after the imports are done. So if you'd usually log in as marcha try logging in as marcha.e marcha.miklosrozsa instead. Use your regular password. If you are accustomed to logging in with your email and password and that isn't working, it is possible that your profile reverted to an older password or that it has an uppercase letter in it somewhere. Please then log in with your username and password, or the username with the extension and your password as described above.

sign-in feature would be much appreciated, too. I really don't enjoy having to type in my password for each and every posting I make, and I think others

I know that someone here keeps archive old deleted pages from this Forum. Does this at all mean those pages could be re-instated? (I'm not ASKING this be

Thank you, Marcha. I still get complaints from people who are suddenly unable to log in. I keep telling them that the Forum has a new address and that they may
need to log in to Yuku Help (at a separate location and with a different password). But this is a hard message to get across. And I can only help the people
who bother to ask. Others may become discouraged and simply disappear.

I'm sorry to hear that John! There are quite a few accounts where people didn't know they still had an old email attached to it, or if they had
multiple accounts linked on one email, it unlinks to import it and then it's back to the old email again. And most people are not used to adding the board
name extension to their login name... Would you like me to add an announcement to the front page of your board that is more specific? So that people don't
have to go beyond the front page to get their information?

John, you have a global profile, so you don't need to.
When you click on 'admin' in the top bar, and then on 'members (all)' in the member box, you'll see a list with your board members. The majority of them have your board name behind it, so if they are unable to log in with just their profile name and password, they can try to log in with these two options: Login option one:
profilename.miklosrozsa
and then their password. Of course 'profilename' needs to be replaced with their actual profile name. An example of a board member is jeremouche.miklosrozsa. That person can log in with that full name (profilename/boardname) and then their password. It isn't always necessary, but there are occasions where it is, which is why I mention it here. Other profiles have a .e behind it in your member list. For instance: Login option 2:
Justin Bates.e
He will need to log in with the .e attached to it. When the imports are finished, all the .e profiles are going to be fixed and returned to regular global profiles, so that they can log in without the .e extension behind their name. That fix doesn't count for local profiles that have the board name behind it. At ezboard, local profiles could ONLY log in, and ONLY post at their own board if they had a local account. At Yuku a local profile can log in anywhere at Yuku and post anywhere at Yuku, so the extension becomes necessary. If people with a local profile (with the board extension) want to have it removed, they'll need to open a ticket at http://helpdesk.yuku.com and we can then check if the global version of their profile name is available. If it is, we remove the extension. If it isn't available, we can make a small change to the profile name (for instance, we add numbers to it) so that the name becomes unique again, and then we can remove the extension. |

In the interim, let me paraphrase one issue for those who may have missed it: If you are a longtime member of this board and are unable to log in, you may actually be registered under your former e-mail address. That is why Yuku won't recognize you. One solution is to register anew with your current address. If you try to use the same screen name, you may be told that it is "taken." The easy solution is to choose a different name -- perhaps by adding a number or an initial. Old names can be reclaimed and other problems resolved through the Yuku help facility cited above. |
